We have finally settled into our humble abode in Perugia. I can’t believe we’re here.  It is still so surreal.

When we landed in Rome, we waited in the lobby of the airport for the rest of the students.  This provided the opportune time to have my first experience buying food.  I walked to one end of the lobby and reached a hectic blob of Italians ordering food (no line formed).  I headed towards the other end of the lobby and overheard some Americans talking (obviously this place was a safe bet then).  I hoped in line and was approached by an Italian woman working at the sandwich shop.  Let me say, it was quite the experience.  Not the typical customer service I’m used to, but I could live with it and as long as I was fed, I’m good.  I wasn’t sure what I ordered (I pointed and used my bit of Italian manners, “per favore”), but I’m almost positive it was a Panini sandwich cut in the shape of a Christmas tree (they celebrated Christmas this past Friday) filled with tomatoes, turkey, leaf lettuce, and a spreadable cream cheese.

About two hours later, we loaded our bags onto a coach bus and began our three-hour trek to Rome.

*Side note:  Next time I travel globally, I am not bringing two checked bags, and if I do, remember to make friends.  That is the only way I survived this past journey.  So make friends with strong (trustworthy) English speaking people.  They help you unload your carry-on and carry you’re checked at baggage claim.

I struggled to keep my eyes open on the way home, but as soon as the sun went down, I was out!  When I woke up, we had arrived in Perugia (convenient, I know) and were winding through the cobblestone roads pulling up to our hotel, Hotel Gio (yes, a nice reminder of a dear sister I know and love—shout out to the rest of the sibs, love you too!).  We stayed in the hotel for the night so we had a chance to recharge ourselves.  We shared a room with one of our apartment roommates.

Here are a few pictures from our hotel we stayed in.  It was brief so excuse the lack of detail.
